Possible to replace 04 Bose HU with 05+ HU?

I prefer the 05 Bose head unit w/o the cassette deck. I am wondering if the later HU could be retrofitted to the 04 dash?

Sounds like alot of work to retrofit an OEM Radio. Just go aftermarket.

A JDM kit looks practically OEM with any decent head unit.

actually thats one reason i never bought the jdm kit, while the bezel and kit itself looks oem, every double din install i've seen never looks 100% right, whether it doesn't sit flush or there's some kind of gap.

The button layout doesn't matchup. It would not be a plug and play install.

Can you explain? I'm interested in knowing what you did. Did you change the cassestte deck or just the cd portion?
