SWI-X Question
SWI-X Question
I'm a bit confused about the SWI-X. I just installed an MP3 player with the Soungate ALNS1 (I have an early 2003 w/o SAT button). The MP3 player (ssiamerica Neo Car Jukebox) has an IR remote.
My question is this. Can the SWI-X be used with the factory radio AND an external device like an MP3 player. I know there is the SWI-V, but according to PAC, it doesn't work w/the G35.
If the SWI-X does work, what are the particulars for the install. Are most people getting a separate wiring harness to "tap into" the wires?
Thanks

Re: SWI-X Question
Did you ask PAC directly about the SWI-V application with the G35 or did you just look at the vehicle applicationlist they have on their website. I too was looking at the SWI-X and SWI-V to control and aftermarket dvd player with my factory radio and steering wheel control. I emailed PAC and told them what my setup was like and what I was looking to accomplish and I believe they told me the SWI-V does work for the G35. I ended up cancelling the idea cause I got lazy, but I will look through my emails and see if I still have it for you. Call them directly or email and tell them what you have and what your looking to do. They will tell you if it is possible with the parts they have. I'll post it or shoot you a PM if I can find that email they sent me laying out the applications for the SWI-X and SWI-V with respect to the G35.

Scott,
Yes, if you got 2 swi-v then you could use both sides of the steering wheel
buttons. Once you purchase the swi-v if you have any questions feel free to
email.

Thanks for the email reply. That's great news that I can use it!!! Another
question... If I purchased 2 SWI-V could I then have use of both sides of my
steering wheel controls? It doesn't matter if I have to use only 1 side of
the controls but I was just curious that if 2 were used could I have access
to both sides if desired?
Looking forward to getting everything wired. Thanks again!
Scott

The SWI-V will work for your application, the only thing is, since there are
two wires in the radio harness that control each side of the buttons on the
steering wheel you will only be able to use one side of your buttons to
control the DVD player. Now, both sides will still work to control the
factory radio, but only one side will be able to be programmed for DVD
functions. The AAI-NIS should start shipping in the next couple weeks. We
have no just started building them, so you will start to see them soon.

Subject: PAC SWI-V with G35 Factory Headunit and Eclipse DV3101
PAC-AUDIO TECH SUPPORT,
I have a 2003 G35 Coupe with the Bose Premium package. I have added an
Eclipse DV3101 dvd player to my system and have been looking at your SWI-X
and SWI-V components. Since I want to keep my factory headunit the SWI-X is
not what I am looking for but the SWI-V sounds like it will do what I want.
I would like to eliminate the remote that the DVD player has, and be able to
use my steering wheel controls instead. I was wondering if you knew if the
SWI-V is what I am looking for to do this job and also, is it compatible
with my system. Please let me know as soon as you can.
Also do you know when the AAI-NIS (Aux input for the G35) will be released
to the public?
Thanks for your help!!!

Re: SWI-X Question
You know, I can't remember now if I spoke w/them or not. Based on what you have below, then it looks like it should work. I might give them a call to confirm. If I hear anything, I'll update.

Re: SWI-X Question
I have a PDF of the instructions for the SWI-X that I received from Pacaudio but it is too big to post. If interested, let me know and I can email them to ya..
My plan was to use it with the AAINIS to control my IPOD. This would require the use of the NAVIPOD remote for the IPOD (I mentioned this in that other posting about the denison). I am not entirely sure how the two interact but I am guessing that one plugs into the other. It is not clear in the instructions. The x is simply an learning Remote/IR Repeater. You place the IR emitter infront of the IR receiver (in my case the Navipod). If I do this, I will probably hide the Navipod in the dash and run a wire to the top of the IPOD. This is why I dont like this setup since it is another wire to see.
What is the SWI-V and how does it differ from the X? I would look on PACs web site but it is down right now. I have exchanged emails with PAC but they never mentioned using it.
Thanks
