CD changer not working after iPod interface install
2006 G coupe w/Bose
I had a local shop fully dynamat my trunk, install my JL 500/1 amp, 10W6, 1080 box and my USA spec-15 iPod interface yesterday. When I went to pick the car up, the installer wanted me to put in a CD to tune the amp and we noticed the changer was not working. When you push "CD" and try to upload a CD, it asks to choose which disk. After a few seconds, the screen goes blank and doesn't do anything. I am confused and so is the installer. He is fully willing to get to the bottom of the problem, but at this point it was 10pm and I he and I both just wanted to go home.
Good news is the iPod interface works great and I most likely won't be using CD's anyway...but I still want it to work again. Does the CD player need to be "reset" after it has been disconnected? He had taken out my two CD's before disconnecting the player. What could have happened? I never had any problems with it before.

Yes, I would select a preset, I would hear a click or something and then the screen goes blank as if it said, "meh, I give up." I tried messing with it again yesterday and got no where.

You can mostly remove it from the car as to give it a solid thump on the side, sometimes it can cause it to unjam, but again, these head units are known for a short life in their power supplies and cd-changers.
This is why you'll consistently see me advising against installing any sort of iPod integration kit with the stock stereo, as it's wasted effort and money once the headunit goes out.

When you remove the headunit, it can get knocked around or put in directions it normally isn't used to. Perhaps a penny or broken piece of CD or something else that was loose inside got lodged in the changer mechanism.
Take it out, give it a good shake and slap and stick it back in.
Yes, I'm aware how bad that sounds.
No, I'm not going to change it.
