Yes, you need a transponder bypass (DEI model 555U) and a spare, coded key to be permanently mounted in it under the dash.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the transponder part of the keyfob, not the buttons. A guy by the name of Korz on the board has a DEI I belive that works through X amount of door lock pulses. The major drawback of doing this is the fact that the factory remote have very poor range, especially when compared to the entry level remote start systems. You would be better off ditching the factory keyfob and going completely aftermarket.
