05 sedan with bose, replacing questions
#16
I would have to measure the box again, but I did reference the recomended box volume when I built it so I should be right in line with manufacture recomendations.
So it looks like I have an amp to puchase and a pair of speakers to swap out.
Thanks for that recomendation, I beleive that ill be placing an order shortly.
On a side note. I havent looked at the Bose amp yet, but how is that wired in? Are there seperate audio input and outputs per speaker? Would I have to run new wires from the deck to the rear door speakers to power them off the deck? I guess that will be my next stop after clicking "submit reply" .........search function...
Once I get all the components installed I will definatly post pics

Page 13 for the Bose audio wiring diagrams... you most likely need to run new speaker wires from the HU to rear deck.

My impatience kicked in again. I picked up a pair of 6.5" Focal's for the rear fill and a 4x75 Alpine amp. I got it all wired up yesterday and it sounds awesome, 10,000 times better than the Bose set-up. Once I get the amps dialed in and everything mounted in their final resting place I will get some pics posted.
Thanks again for the advice and help from you guys.

I guess painting it all black is a way to get around the Metra kit not matching the brushed aluminum trim of the rest of the console.
Do you have any details on the painting process?
That console doesn't look too bad, just those grey rubber buttons... they definitely don't fit. There's got to be a way to blacken them up.

As far as painting, I sanded the wood grain, then used a primer, and a matte black paint for plastic. It took several coats and a little bit of sanding to get a nice uniform finish. Im happy with how it turned out, it matches the rest of the dash and interior really well and the shifter plate is still brushed aluminum so they go good together..
The buttons, yeah thats my second set of buttons. Im not very happy with the way they fit, but they will have to stay like that for a while. Eventually I will figure something out to fix them.

Something like this:

Might be worth a shot... rubber dye is kinda a rare thing.
You could probably try dying the back of it first and see how well it works. If it does, mask off the button names and do the rest.
