Opinions on my AV Electronic/PS2 install

check my post here, lemme know what you guys thing and suggestions you may have...

https://g35driver.com/forums/showfla...5∂=&vc=1

my pics start about 6 posts down the thread

two things i definitely need to do are find a better location for the big red button (or get a less noticable button, it sticks out like a sore thumb against all the graphite carpet/plastic.

and secondly, the power inverter that i'm using is rated for 200watts (massive overkill) but it's got a built in fan that is noisy as a ****. anybody know of a nice quiet one?

on the plus side, my PS2 is removeable in about 10 seconds incase i wanna play it somewhere else (i have an extra power cord and AV cable hooked up in my room). also because of that little adapter i made i can remove the power inverter just as quickly if i need it somewhere else.

Re: Opinions on my AV Electronic/PS2 install

AV Electronic no longer sells the TV tuner version of the unit. However, what i didn't realize is that i don't get over the air TV around here very well, so i coulda done without this feature.

as to price, i got the unit from a member of the forum (ikSardarG)... i wouldn't share his prices without his consent, so drop him a PM if you're insterested... he's got the best prices on both the AV Electronic unit and the PAC audio SAT interface.

i already had the PS2 so that was free i guess. otherwise they're $150 now.

and finally installation. i did the whole thing myself, so no $$$ for installation. however, i probably spent about $50 in radioshack buying wire taps, wire loom, a noise filter, and assorted other things i needed for the project.

Re: Opinions on my AV Electronic/PS2 install

Hey all,
Thanks for the comments above, I would be happy to help anyone out with questions.

Yes - AV has discontinued the TV tuner version of the AV Box. There was a user on here that placed an order with me like 45 days ago; made me reserve a unit for him and never sent me the money even after speaking with him on the phone. Sucks that he could completely lie to me, instead of just coming clean. It's just sitting here now...

Anyways, I still have his unit in inventory... It's a TV Tuner version just waiting to be shipped out to anyone else. It's obvious this other guy isn't taking it.

Regardless, great job on the PS2 install. Glad to see you are satisfied with it... Best regards!

oops sorry just saw that over in the other post.

Your red video switch button is in an awkward location. Do you lean across the passenger seat to switch it over? You can mount that in the change holder on the driver's side of the cupholder's and it's totally accessible and hidden by the door.

the red button is on the driver's side so it's just below my right knee when i'm driving... it's easy to hit. the 5AT has a different console, so my change tray is actually inside the armrest, not inside the cupholder

i definitely like your suggestion about the remote eye on the rearview mirror thing... next time i have the patience to take apart the interior again i will move that.

but first i need to fix these issues i'm having with the power inverter b/c the PS2 keeps shutting down. grrrrrr

PS - russ as soon as i saw your system months ago it made me wanna get the AV Electronic unit / PS2 combo. your install is top notch.
