V1, its saved my bacon countless times.

Check the forums on: http://www.radardetector.net/forums/ Alot of folks are loyal to one brand or the other on that site but the reviews and save stories on there are well worth the reading.

9500ix....

Heres why... V1 and 9500ix detect the same frequencies. the 9500 lacks the arrows but the GPS is amazing. It stores locations on the device itself so it stops false alarms. Most of my friends bought the V1 because it was cheaper for them. Whenever I drive around with them its so noisy and annoying, with the escort all of the false alarms (gas stations, grocery stores, anything) in my area are stored. Its usually quiet in my area until there really is a cop.

But anyway, bottom line is, if a radar saves you a few times, its paid for itself, so theres no reason to go cheap on whichever radar you choose.

How long have you had your 9500? Like I said, EVERY one of my Escort products, save one, have had problems with reliability. I just don't know if I can pay a $100 more for it.

I've had it for about a year and a half. It comes with a one year warranty from Escort. The only issue I had was the power cord stopped working, I opened up the power adapter, then realized I didn't know what I was doing, and opening it up wouldn't help at all.. I just screwed it together again. After that it started working lol. Other then that I've never had any problems, maybe if you install the latest firmware on the Escort it will fix it?

The only way to avoid speeding tickets 100% of the time is to slow down. Because of laser most detectors are almost useless now. If your the first one in line on the road no detector on earth will be able to save you because as soon as you car is "painted" with the laser it's too late, your busted. You only chance is to follow another car at a distance and hope your detector will pick up some "stray" laser light which may warn you early enough.

I agree with TheG35Dude, why not just slow down? I live in DC Metro area and i can speed on the highways without any issue with the cops, i just dont do it all the time. I've yet to get a single speeding ticket during the 3+ years i've owned my G.

Hey I go to school in VA, va tech and I have the beltronic STI and it is amazing. It does have some false alarms, but those are a different band(diff frequency) and is easily noted and muted. It also had the feature where cops can't detect if you have a radar detector which is a must if you live in a state where they are illegal, i.e. VA. Also just a note for hiding it, I hardwired it and located it above my rear view mirror, where the windshield is tinted and not a single cop has ever pulled me over for seeing it, and its extremely original as I have never seen anybody else do this. Trust me its worth the high price as I have never gotten a ticket with it.

3 tickets in 2 weeks? Geez... what you REALLY need to do is slow down.
No radar detector is going to save you from the white lines or laser on an open road, and you could get in serious trouble if you are caught with a hidden radar detector.

You are, of course, correct and I don't speed anymore. HOWEVER, I drive a lot and, as happens to anyone, I tend to daydream. I may be doing the speed limit on the highway, but then I come to some little "revenue machine" for a local town council, and forget to slow down fast enough.

I use it to "keep me honest". It has paid for itself MANY times over.
