help me choose a gps...please

I said please, so yeah, I'm trying to choose between the AVIC X920BT and Kenwood DNX6960... i have a really good hook up on either but my question is this: i'm currently stationed in europe and got orders for 3 years in germany so i need one that would support eu maps. so far i have not been able to find either i've been on the tele atlas sight which is partnered with pioneer to provide maps but i did not see a eu map pack, i've checked with garmin (kenwood gps based on garmin) and they didnt really have a map upgrade either unless it's a EU reciever... i'm trying to buy a state side one because face it sooner or later i'll end up back in the USA (cant wait!) either way any inputs would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

So you're shipping your car to Germany?

I would just buy a GPS in Germany for around 200.

Well, the X920BT is the better stereo, but davidxu's got the right idea, just get a garmin for GPS purposes and choose your stereo based on what you'll want when you get back in the states.

no my 320is e30 (1 of 1206) is getting shipped and we're driving the infiniti up to germany its only like 8 hours thats the main reason to get the nicer dvd/gps/audio i was thinking of just going with A/V but the thing is i will get stationed home sooner or later so i was thinking of just doing it once the right way... i have a garmin but i just dont really like having the thing on the dash and on top of that in italy you are only allowed to have it in the left corner of the dash where it sits way crooked on the gauges and i'd like the cleaner look plus my wife said she wants "a more luxurious" reciever (than bose) ha ha ha thanks for the input guys

More luxurious than bose?... Dual, JVC, Jensen, they're all better than Bose.

girls.... yeah i'm just trying to get something that i wouldnt regret and as far as i know Dual is like a kragen brand... no offense to anyone rockin dual or any resellers... JVC and Jenses i've never had so i can not speak of them but i know i've always had great luck with pioneer.... random question if i switch the HU out for a pioneer 'BT' will the blue tooth work the same way or is it going to be ran off the new HU with their wiring, mic.......

Yeah, I know dual sucks and JVC and jensen aren't fantastic either, I was just hammering home how bad Bose sucks.

I'm pretty sure the microphones that come with the -BT headunits are better than the stock ones. I would assume that the audio signal wires from the stock microphone can be spliced to a 3.5mm male plug and used instead of the pioneer mic.

JVC units are actually not that bad, most people are impressed when I install them. Especially the Arsenal series.

I would use the aftermarket mic instead of splicing. Reason being that the Pioneer mic will be better than your factory mic...and you paid for it.

if you are gonna be there three years you might look into buying an in dash that works over there, I would.

Then i would sell it when i left
