iPod integration issue USA spec

I have an 07 G35 with infiniti satellite radio installed at the dealership. I purchased the USA spec infin iPod integration kit and hooked it up according to the manual. Everything works great except for the random play. I tried pressing and holding preset 4 like the manual says, but no luck.

So basically I can play a playlist in alphabetical order, or an album in numerical order. Does anyone have the USA spec, and if you do, can you play this random?

If not I'm sending this back to crutchfield.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Check section 3 of the user's manual to make sure your dip switches are set to folder mode.
Ensure the dip switches are set correctly and that you went through the rather lengthy proceedure detailed in 3-2 to enable folder mode.

Call it a hunch, but I get the feeling with the impatient bumping on this post that you jumped past that part and didn't do everything as specified, and just read what was required to "hook it up".

If I'm wrong, then just go through all 11+ steps again and see if that works.

Thanks for the condescending tone, but at least its a response. Yes I was impatient while bumping the thread, but I wasn't sure if anyone would see it if I didn't bump it.

Anyways, I did follow the process in 3-2 several times. Like I said, everything in folder mode works except for random play. The instruction say to hold preset 4. When I do that nothing happens. Does this technique work for you? If so, what year car do you have? My "hunch" is that in the 07 model year, preset 4 does not inact random play.

The radios in 05-07 coupes are interchangeable, so that's unlikely to the the source of your problem.

I'd give USA SPEC a call @ 626-336-3836 and see what they have to say.

Other users have commented that after setting it to random, if they track up/down it goes alphabetically instead of a new random.

I've been talking to the USA Spec guys. They think it may be the limitation of the radio. He told me that they can't go out and test it with every radio, but the nissan radio that they had worked by holding preset 4. That doesn't work for me, but holding preset 4 doesn't set the cd player to random either. I think I will send this back and try the PAC

It's one of the reasons I highly recommend just doing a full-on double din install. Much better iPod functionality plus all the other benefits of a new headunit.

Just installed the usa spec PA15-INFI and it works great. I will try and to take some pics and post a DIY in the near future. I have an 07 coupe with xm radio and it was a very simple install.

gmoney, are you able to set the mode to random while listening in folder mode? I couldn't get it to work. If so, how do you do it? The instructions say hold preset 4 witch did not work for me. Please advise as I'm about to ship this unit back today or tomorrow.
