Power Source (inverter question)

I have a 2008 G35 sedan and have recently purchased a bluetooth receiver to stream music from my phone. It connects via aux to the rca jacks in the center arm rest. It works perfectly but there is a bunch of clutter in my center arm rest as the inverter I have now takes up almost 50% of that small compartment. I had to take out my ipod due to the lack of space.

My question now is, is there a way to power my bluetooth device (small rectangular about 1.5 inch by 2.5 inch device) without using an inverter? I thought about wiring it up directly but something just doesn't seem safe about wiring an outlet directly to a power source. This device wasn't meant to be in the car (it is a stereo attachment that you would plug into your wall). It would be perfect if someone made a micro cigarette lighter inverter lol.

Any help would be appreciated, I'm a complete noob when it comes to this kind of work.

Goal of this project - when i dock my phone (droid) it auto syncs with the device and begin streaming pandora. I got it to work manually, streams perfectly, sound is crisp (will be better once i pay for the service).

If it doesn't get too hot, you could put it under the center console and wire it up semi-permanently by splicing into the power outlet from underneath. Splice into the RCA wires from underneath too and you'll never know it's there.

Get a 12v DC to USB adapter for your car and a USB to MicroUSB cable. USB spec carries 5v, so you'll need to crack open the DC to USB adapter, splice it into your factory 12v outlet, and splice the two USB cables to the two power lines on the MicroUSB cord. (USB should have 4 wires, 2 power, 2 data).

Seen it done before, and it's not that hard. Just takes some patience. Then you can hide the converter and call it a day.

Other option is to do what Wrather said and hardwire your power inverter and hide it somewhere.

You could always do something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Scosche-motorM.../dp/B001AVSWEE
and this:
Amazon Amazon
You could just leave it in the console, or hardwire it underneath to the 12v power powering the outlet, and splice to the audio inputs. No inverter required.

I looked into that item and got some mixed reviews on it, kensington makes one that works well but it pairs the phone for calls as well. I emailed the company that makes my device (blackdiamondsolutions) and got a response to try a different product lol... I'll take pictures of my unit and what i have to work with after work.

thanks for the responses(both of you)
