Question new guy need some help on ideas for a system

Im 18 and just got a 2004 g35 sedan handed down to me. Been my favorite car for about 7 years now.

I was looking for a 12in sub and a decent amp w/ some ideas on mounting it and tips in install.

Trying to get the most bang for my buck since i am a college student.

THANKS:

Honest answer? Sell the car, get something that gets good mileage, and put whatever's left over into the stereo. Since you're a broke college student, running a 2004, if you put whatever spare change you have left after insurance, gas, food, tuition and rent, where's the money to fix it going to come from when something goes wrong?

If mommy and daddy are still paying your insurance, gas, food, tuition and rent, then you're more or less still a high school student, and we just need to know a couple things:

Budget?
Type of music?

This is a box that many people (including myself) use on the G.

You could use this Elemental Designs amplifier
http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...products_id=44

and pair it with a sub of your choice. I prefer Image Dynamics subs, I've used the IDQ before and currently run an IDMAX. But there are many different options available based upon what you are looking for sound wise and your budget.

This setup will run about 850 and up.

Wrathernaut : Selling is probably the best idea but as of right now, I looks like im keeping this car for a few years regardless of the horrendous gas mileage

I was willing to drop around 500-600 on the system.

I listen to almost everything, mainly hip-hop/ rap, dubstep, rock but I want something that will sound crisp while not drowning out all other sound.

I was looking into that enclosure but its pretty steep $$ wise.

Just do something like this:
RF Punch PS300 from Crutchfield - should be back in stock in a week, and they include the amp wiring kit. Easy to move to your next car if you can't afford to maintain the G, and easy to sell if you do keep the G and want to move up to something better.

$600 + shipping.

You might be able to do it cheaper from elsewhere, but don't forget to include the price of the wiring kit.

I got my 4080 box with JL 10w6v2 and a JL 500/1 all for under $600... Keep an eye out on the classifieds here and it doesn't hurt to search for "4080" on eBay every now and then...

Now if I could only figure out how to get the grill to stay on the box and not have the sub pop it off everytime it hits a low note...

^ good deal there.

I just assume people wanting to buy stuff are smart enough to check the marketplace here and don't mention it.

yeah, sub and box were actually combo deal on eBay and amp was off craigslist but I have seen deals on here too. Just gotta be a little patient and be ready to buy as soon as the deal comes up...

A good Diamond Audio Sub and Amp is a great way to go. Good clean power and good bang for the buck.
