Does anyone know of a good sub to put in the place of the bose woofer that isnt super expensive and will sound good on the bose amp. Also if thats not possible what would be a good amp to buy that would improve the sound of everything including the tweeters.

ps. i know i would have to relocatea knew amp.

 

Nothing will sound good on the Bose amp. It's weak, messes with the sound, and breaks even trying to push the tiny Bose woofer.

You didn't say whether you had the coupe or sedan, but for about $350 you can get a good brand 6-channel amp that'll work for either.

If you can't afford that, starting looking at pawn shops for a 6-channel amp.

 

Thats right in my price range. So all i would have to do is hook everything up from the Bose amp to that one and im good to go? Also how do you think an 8inch kicker that works in free air would sound in the stock location?

 

Pretty much, but the power handling capabilities of the Bose speakers is debatable, so just take it easy on them until you have replacements handy.

The stock location isn't particularly secure, but using non-expanding filler foam in all the spaces in the rear deck will help some. It'd be better than the Bose, but not as good as a boxed sub.

Not sure if it'd require any modification to fit though, not all 8" are equal. (Ha!)

Could i put the new sub in before i get my amp or will it not sound better than the bose?

 

I'd wait until the amp's in there, but it shouldn't hurt anything to put it in there. Doubt that Bose amp will make anything sound good.

the bose amp is garbage. ive been wanting to replace my stock 8" with an image dynamics sub. i heard they were great sq subs and could run free air decently

 

So im curious then you hook your bose front, rear, and tweeters up to an aftermarket amp???? wouldnt that ruin them or they would just not work? What I did is i got an aftermarket HU that had rear/subwoofer jacks in the back of it as well as in the wire set for the HU. from crutchfield my HU came with the wiring adapter that was necessary for the right signal with the bose speakers. The signal from the unit goes to my bose amp and runs the front, rear, and tweeters. I ran the two jacks from the back of the HU to an aftermarket amp with a seperate power line and so my aftermarket subs get the necessary signal strength from the HU running straight to the aftermarket amp while my stock speakers are powered by a weaker signal ran into the stock amp. Less work, less money to buy all new speakers, and it sounds great. I dunno thought i'd throw that option out there

 

If you don't overpower them, they won't be ruined at all.

If I was running my stock bose amp and speakers with the sub I have, I'd be drowning it out completely. 500w of sub will easily erase the 40-ish watts of the bose amp.
