Subwoofer question
Subwoofer question
I have two 12"W3V2 subs in my trunk with a 500/1 amp to power them both, so I wan't to know if I should I Open some holes in my rear deck because some installer I met said I'm losing bass because my subs are facing upwards. He didn't do the install but he recommends changing to 2 10" subs with a subwall however that is not gonna happen cause my system is already custom installed and it doesn't make sense for me to do it twice besides to me it sounds great but I wonder if I should leave it or just open the rear deck where the 2 stock 6X9's go? Only reason is I wan't more air to hit me my suibs sound ok but i wan't it to hit lower and have more air inside.

Re: Subwoofer question
You should take out the stock 6x9's and let the subs play thru the stock holes. That should be good for what you've got.

Re: Subwoofer question
getting those damn 6x9's out is a b*tch. You'll have to take the rear seat bottom and back out along with side panel. The 6x9's are probably vibrating in sympathy (right term?) with the sub and therefore absorbing some of it's punch. I don't know if you'll notice that much of a difference but it can't hurt though.
Re: Subwoofer question
I should have said I don't have the bose system so It should be holes already there right? just take some knockout's from the hole ?

Re: Subwoofer question
Try listening to the system with the rear seat down and if you notice a difference and like it, you might consider doing this. The difference won't be huge though considering that the trunk is not acoustically sealed from the passenger compartment.

Check out the G Squad forum. There is a DIY to remove the rear speakers.

Re: Subwoofer question
Nice install!
The rear seats of the coupe aren't very thick, and allow quite a bit of sound through them. You'll probably still notice a significant improvement when you lower the rear seat, but removing the 6x9's (or opening those "holes") won't come anywhere close to the same effect. If you're happy with the sound I'd leave well enough alone.
