is the metra kit a dead on match?

so since my car was broken into and all my stereo **** was stolen. i now have to buy all new stuff. anyways. i dont want to buy the jdm dash kit again so im just going to go with the metra kit since i already have all the adapters because thats what i was originally going to use. anyways. is the color of the metra kit a dead on match to the factory color? or is it slightly off? anyone have pics of there metra kit? preferebly in the willows color interior. black or grey will do to i guess. just trying to see what it looks like butted up next to the rest of the dash. thanks

Comparison photos in there.

Dead on? 2003-2004 except for the buttons, yeah.
2005-2007 hells no, not even the same material. Plastic isn't aluminum.

I know its not the best choice but I don't want to spend top dollar again and then have it stolen again.

Just check the pics in the above linked thread, if you've got a 05-07 and would allow somebody to fugly-up your interior for $150, then get the Metra, otherwise JDM all the way.

But 03-04... I'll let that slide, since there won't be any original buttons to compare it to, so it's fugly factor isn't too bad.

yea i have the 03/04 so it doesnt look to bad. i found out yesterday after i made this thread though that if the insurance is going to cover everything that got stolen that they wouldnt be giving me a check. they will be sending me new ones. so they might actually be sending me a new jdm piece

So I'm thinking, maybe I should tie a piece of high-test fishing line through a few of the components on the circuit board of my unit when I install it, and tie the other end to the car itself. If you remove it without cutting the line, you destroy the connection on a few capacitors and diodes. Shouldn't take much for at all and won't be noticed when pulling it out.

Hopefully they try and sell it to a guy who beats their *** later for it not working.
