Failed OEM cd player

My cd player recently started saying "push eject", and iwhen i push the button the cd will not eject and wont play either. Im assuming the cd player is failing. How hard is it to swap out the failed cd player for a new cd player? I want to keep the oem headunit.

its easy. literally plug and play.
Why dont you upgrade and get rid of the oem unit.
although, JDM faceplate is hard and expensive to find...

I love mine. I have DNX5512. BA.

I was just wondering how hard it would be to swap out the old player, if i tried to do it by myself.

swapping out the factory for another factory is really easy

the harness are the same and the will bolt up the same

just a bit of stuff to remove to get to the unit, maybe an hour if you have previous install skills. 2-3 if you dont

There's no "new" oem units anymore, and if you pay any attention to this board, you'll know that failure is pretty much inevitable.

Circuit board fails.
Changer mechanics fail.
Changer reader fails.
Power circuits fail.

Rebuilt ones from the dealer run $600.
Used ones are cheap, but probably going to have the same problems down the road, probably soon since they'd be about the same age.
You can do a budget DD install for $300.

I don't think it will be that cheap if he wants quality devices, but highly recommanded because OEM ones always seem to have something wrong with them down the road like you said. Buying a new JDM Double-Din is about $300shipped and used will go abit cheaper. Plus getting a quality headunit will cost nearly $500 if used.

Unless you don't want quality type, get metra for $150 plus headunit from eBay and that will put you at $300.

A JVC (not the greatest, but still has a warranty and brand name) can be had for $200 from crutchfield.com. Since the HU is over $150, you get 1/2 off the metra dash kit. That brings it to about $290. Crutchfield includes shipping and the wiring harness.

Adding the steering wheel controls adapter for $40 from amazon is optional.

I would heavily recommend a better headunit, but the fact that you can get a name-brand headunit in there for under $300 is undeniable.

Not necessarily ;p because I bought my D3 for $250 on craigslist. One of the sweetest deals I've gotten thus far!

That is a good deal. D3's a solid unit. But to expect anybody to be able to repeat that is crazy talk.

Having a warranty and something new still have an allure to a lot of people.
