Best pair of subs/speakers/amp for $1600??

Hey guys,

Pretty new to car audio, been browsing online to try and figure out what i should get in my 06 coupe with premium bose system.

Excluding labor what would be a decent setup for $1600?? I'm only looking to change the front speakers (disconnecting back), possibly add 2 12" subs and get the appropriate amp to power all of this.

The best thing to do is go have a listen for yourself at a local retailer and see what sounds good to you. Bring a few disc with you as well to see how your music is going to sound. If I had to pick myself I would be going with Diamond Audio Hex components and amplifier and Diamond Subs, and keep the rears attached for some filler. I have used them in all my cars since I was 18 and have never strayed since.

^ Second thing is to decide if you're a betting man.

Many 06's are losing the factory headunits, and where you have a Bose headunit, you're doubly in trouble, as it outputs a balanced signal that will require special considerations when purchasing the amp to go with with it, or necessitate additional hardware to convert the signal.

Putting $1600 into amp, subs and speakers is great, but if you still have the fragile, crappy Bose headunit, you might be stuck without working audio of any sort when it goes out.

Okay, so that aside, we really need to know what music you listen to. "Everything" doesn't cut it. Whatever genre/bands take up 80% or more of your time listening is what you need to build for.

2 12" subs is a lot of sub for a coupe like this, but if you're out to dominate parking lots instead of sound good to the people in the car, that's your choice.

I'd say a single, properly-powered 12" would fill it just fine.

2 12's are a lot I will admit, if I had to do it again I would probably have gone with 10's for the more versatility in mounting positions and better use of space in our limited trunk area. But I have grown to love my 12's so I am happy with my decision. Yes they get loud, probably too loud. But hey that's what those neat little remote gain *****, proper tuning and volume controls are for.

If you want alot of bass and want to retain some space go with a Audioque HDC10 or 12

http://www.audioque.com/aq/?page_id=24

10 or 12 will handle 1500rms and more daily...ask me how I know =)

Fi BL or RE SX will give the same results.

Those subs run about $300 shipped

i had the 10" in a 1.5 cube box tuned to 34hz, massive bass on any rap

nine.1 amp is on sale for $250 from elemental designs.

nine.1 will do about 1400rms @1ohm

$500-$600 total

You may want to check out Hybrid Audio's Clarus component set...one of the best sets of speakers I've ever heard, and definitely the best for it's price range.
You can get an Audison 6 channel amp, a Treo 12" sub and the Hybrids for around $1600. All top notch stuff.
