Bose system to DD HU aftermarket Help Pleeease

Hi,

I'm currently in the process of shopping for a new DD aftermarket HU and was interested in purchasing the Pioneer 4200DVD model. I'm wondering if it is compatible with the bose sound system I have now (03 G35 sedan) as the guy at futureshop told me I may need to replace all my speakers. Can anyone shed some light on this and tell me if that is the case or if there is any special module I'd need to connect the new DD to my current speakers?
Thanks!

its nice that you found the right section to post this in. There is a sticky on the top of the section that lists what is needed and all the whole thing as it should answer 99% of the questions.

To answer your question, YES the radio will work with bose. You do not have to change out the speakers. There are many ways to route this to keep the speakers, the sticky explains 70-7551 harness for you. You can opt to use 70-7550 or ROEM-NIS adapter as well. all do the same.

70-7551 is the harness you need if you have Bose. The ROEM-NIS isn't necessary since I've cleared up the problems people were having with the other harness.

OP, don't listen to big-box stores when it comes to any tech advice.
Go to my shopping/resource sticky for what you need, if you're going the Metra kit route (not too bad with 03), do the headunit and Metra purchase from crutchfield.com, so you'll get the harness and antenna adapter for free, and a big discount on the Metra kit. PAC SWI-PS is a lot cheaper on amazon.com than crutchfield.com though, so buy it from there.

Something to keep in mind with the 4200DVD, is that its motorized face can't open if you've got an automatic and it's in park. So I'd highly recommend the 3200BT or 3200DVD if you're not in a 6MT.

Hey Omar,

I installed the 4200 in my G, Visions did it for me here in Calgary, they used the 70-7551, I have a 6MT. That deck is sick man, it has great features look awesome to and people stare into my car when they see I got stock Navi and that deck in there. The thing yes I noticed the speaker sound isn't that great, its not the same clarity that the Bose HU had, regardless how much you try to tune the EQ the sound just is not that bose sound. You might need to get a new AMP and new speakers to get the sound you require. I am not sure if Bose technology is mainly implemented in the HU and the speakers are just crap. If your in the Calgary area you can definetly let me know I can let you check it out so you know what your getting into.
