I've removed the console over the manual shifter on my coupe and I want to route a wire bundle (approx. 1/2" diameter) to the engine bay. Preferably to the battery compartment.
Is there an easy way to do this?
or maybe a known way?

There's a rubber grommet on both the driver and passenger side. I found the passenger side easier to work with. But I was only routing a power wire to my amp for the sub. Going the other way may be more difficult as it's a hole that drops down. Not sure if you'll encounter any difficulties going up. The grommet is behind the battery. You don't need to take out the battery, just the rubber coverings behind it.

I ran some wires directly to the battery compartment in my 04 coupe. I didn't see any grommets at all behind the battery, so I drilled a 1 1/8" hole right below the ECU. I removed the battery and drilled from the engine compartment in. I was running my O2 sensor, so it had to be a huge hole. I used a rubber grommet to make sure the hole was sealed back up.

The grommet for the pasenger side is UNDER the battery cover. You have to remove the whole cover by lifting up the rubber molding and removing the snap tabs

If using that grommet make sure you create a good seal around the wire you run though. It is basically right above the ECU. If water somehow made its way through the hole you made you could be in some serious trouble. I do remember seeing that grommet there, but didn't think it would go all the way through to the inside easily so I never investigated it. I guess I just like drilling huge holes in my car.

It drops right into the foot well of the passenger side.

 

It's a pain to slice into that grommet (at least without slicing up the existing wires that also run there), but once you do, finding the other side of the wires inside the car is cake.

I just realized that I only have to run 4 wires through the connector, so my bundle isn't nearly as big as I thought.
