buying jl soon need some opinion

w7 = over kill.....in terms of money to performance ratio yes.
W7 over kill in terms of SPL, no
If you want it loud you should probably rethink the W7. They do get semi loud but not the type of block rocking loud.
If you like the sub, cool. I myself dont like it to much.
I ran a 10" and a 12" both in sealed and ported boxes (at different times...not at the same time). I was actually more impressed with a 10" ported than a 12" sealed or ported.
If you want a solid SQL daily look into Tc subs. I have yet to hear a TC sub sound bad.

So you guys think I should get the 1000 1 amp? Would my car be able to handle it? With stock alternator? I heard it needs more power than what the stock alternator can give is this true? And I'm still looking for a sealed box. No luck finding one that fits the dimensions of the 12w7. Thanks for the help btw. I want my coupe to be slapping lol.

w7's will hammer in the right box
I'd look elsewhere for spl though
fi q would stomp the w7 in sq and spl at a fraction of the cost
ssa icon too
loud and small sealed screams big power..thank hoffmans law for that
if u want loud, throw a 500-600w 12 in a ported box
sundown sa-12 comes to mind

so zenclosure emailed me back. there is enough space to fit the sub but there isn't enough air space for the sub to play at optimum level. how bad would this be?
Hi
The 12w7 will fit in the box. We make a faceplate with the correct size hole and there is enough depth(I need to update my listing) but the airspace is smaller than recommended by JL.

its a toss up really
the T/S parameters are publish by the sub manufacture so they will say whats "best" for each sub
I always build my ported boxes a bit bigger but thats because I love the low notes
Small sealed is usually more of a flat sound, still sounds good but it would be as boomy and loud as a ported box.
If the box is to small then it will sound like poop.
What is the air space on the zenclosure and what is JLs minimum spec on the W7 for an enclosure?

The sub needs 1.5 cubic ft of space and zen closures only has 1.2 cubic ft of space. Which is better ported or sealed. Im not using thess for competition just personal I listen to hip hop and house so I want more bass. I also want to keep the spare but I know that is most unlikely given the small clearance in the coupes trunk. I hunk i have to get a box made but give me your opinion on ported or sealed on my preference.

Is this the right amp kit? http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDe...prodID=KOL-AK4 and is the difference between the gauge is the thickness of the wire? And one more thing how is that brand compared to a monster amp kit? I'm looking for something reliable.

Knu makes great stuff
Ive ran rockford, knu, and monster wire and they are about the same
They are all equally flexable and are about the same strand count on wires.
The only reason I have the monster is that I had some Ultimate Electronics gift cards I used for that...that was about 10 years ago and im actually using that wire on my amp for my mids.
Im runnning knu wire on my sub amp.
Just stick to a decent brand and get a 4ga kit, dont put a big emphasis on wire. Be more concerned on grounding and fusing the wire
