2010 GPS Map DVD v6.9

apologies if this has been posted already, but did anyone else get a flyer in the mail stating that the 2010 GPS Map DVD is now available? They're going for $149 (free shipping). I recall a year or so ago, there was a group that got together and made copies, just curious to see if anyone is doing that again.

Also, does anyone know the advantage of getting the 2010 update (aside from road updates and POI)?

What's really dumb is that the flyer states that by getting the updated maps, you could save MPG - what a joke....

The only way I could see how a new map dvd would effect your MPG is if it knew new roads that you didn't on longer trips and gave you a better route that would effect your MPG positively.

I've had 6.4, 6.7 and 6.8. And that is exactly what the update is.

6.8 gave you nicer icons for landmarks. Like in chicago i got sears tower and john hancock in the downtown and the icons really look like the real building. They also included an EXIT icon when you exit off the highway, not sure if there was a ENTER.

Nothing crazy new, you wont get the 7.x style. If i dont go the DD radio route i'll be down for a little group.

LOL their only sales pitch is to say it helps MPGs. But yeah it just updates POIs and road changes. Slight graphical changes like Turtle said but not sure if its worth a buck fifty.

What version of 7.x are we on now?

I need a new one. I live near Boston and all the roads changed since 2006. Really sucks when I make reservations to a restaurant in Boston and am running late and my nav takes me down a road that is now a public park these days.

Plus it's nice to have updated points of interest and gas station locations. Can't tell you how many times I've needed gas and this feature has saved me. Even tells you if it's a mobil, or shell, or other. And sucks when you look up nearby restaurants to pick something new....and show up and it's now a jiffy lube.

The 7.5 is outdated. I entered in CVS in Huntington Beach and when I got there, it was an EMPTY lot. And this was the only one which had a minute clinic around my area.

Sssh... the first thing about following the rules of the board, is you don't talk about the rules of the board.

Gps update

Looking for a more responsible price. Considering a new gps unit is under $. 200.
