Metra Dash Kit Color

I ordered the tan Metra kit with my new radio from Crutchfield, but the color does not seem to match what I have now. My 2003 G has a tan interior with a metallic colored dash area around the stereo and the gear shifter. It matches the color that crutchfiled has pictures of on their site.

The kit I received is the color of the vents in the above picture. What I wanted to find out is do they make kits in the metallic type color that is shown in the picture above? If so, is it a specific model number or is it a different color code?

Yeah, there's silver, tan and black.

Could you post a picture of the tan one you have next to the interior of your car please?

I took a couple pictures with my phone and these two show the color difference the best. I'll try to take some good shots with my camera tomorrow.

You can see the vent cover and part of the dash of the kit in this pic:

You can see the color difference in this one, but their is a lot of glare from the flash: http://oi55.tinypic.com/mu8r50.jpg

The color of the Metra kit is the dull color of the vents that you see in the crutchfiled link. My cars dash looks like the color of the kit itself in the crutchfiled link. It has a metallic tan look.... I wonder if it is actually silver?

That's why I'm trying to get good pics to show the interior with the metra kits. The question "What color is my interior?" has been asked before, and I haven't been able to answer definitively. That's why I want some good pictures for the FAQ section of my shopping list, so others can see and order appropriately.

So if you can make the pics as obvious as possible and compare them as much as you can, you're definitely helping others out.

I'm at work right now, which blocks tinypic, so I'll have to check them out later, but thanks for providing them. If you want to do higher quality ones, it's appreciated.

Sorry these pics are massive. I uploaded to imagehost.org and don't know how to resize the image in the forum.

Let me know what color you think it is. I may have to return the Crutchfield unit.

Thanks again for your help!

The pics may not be a good representation of the actual colors, but you can see the difference. I'm going to go take some more shots as it is brighter out now and I'll use manual settings on my camera.

Well, the metra comes in black, silver and tan, and that one definitely doesn't fit my definition of silver by any means.

It doesn't appear close to this one, so I'm going to have to say you need the silver one.

Thanks again for all of your help. Did Infiniti also only make black, silver and tan interiors? Did they make gray? Crutchfield has a gray kit, but I don't think I'm going to risk it. Amazon has the silver for $150.

Per Metra's site they have three colors for 2003 G35:

https://metradealer.com/api/vfg/view-product/id/99-7604 - Silver - Stock No. 99-7604
https://metradealer.com/api/vfg/view...ct/id/99-7604B - Black - Stock No. 99-7604B
https://metradealer.com/api/vfg/view...ct/id/99-7604T - Tan - Stock No. 99-7604T

Crutchfield seems to be calling the silver kit gray and the last digits of their item number (Item #120997604) seems to correspond with what Metra has as their stock number. I ordered the tan kit and it's Item #120997604T. I'm going to call crutchfield and confirm this and then make an exchange.

Great, crutchfield is really good service-wise.

Snap a couple pictures when you get the metra part in as well, I wish you could do them side by side with the OEM, but I'm sure they'll want the tan one sent in, but at least we'll have the silver next to the oem and tan next to the OEM shots for when people ask in the future.

Thanks for putting forth the effort to help others in your situation.

Crutchfield is sending me the replacement part first and also sending me pre-paid UPS postage to return the tan kit. I'll get pics of the two kits side-by-side. They were really friendly and helpful. I explained to them that the tan kit pictures they have matched my cars interior, but that the actual kit did not.

Good deal.

I'll definitely add a chunk to the FAQ section with the comparison photos when you provide them.

Pics of the Silver and Tan kit side by side along with Pics of the kits next to my stock dash. The silver kit has metallic look and the tan one has a dull look. The silver color is nice, but it is definitely cheap and will scratch off easily.
