I'm trying to get a group buy going for the BEL Pro RX65, one of the best radar detectors out there. I need to see how many are interested before I can get a price. I'm hoping for around $240 including shipping, it's usually $299.

Please reply if you're interested or have questions, please don't flood this post with posts like "V1 is the best" or "i love my escort 8500" those war threads have been done a million times already

oh wait I just realized you said "I'm hoping....." also I saw it retail for $330, maybe what you're looking at doesn't include the smart cord.

I'd NEVER use the power cord, I don't care about tech display, I never drive in europe, and my current detector has the travel case, and not once have i used it.

The RX55 retails for $100 less... If you can get a group buy on that thing, I'd DEFINATELY consider, even with my current setup

Sounddomain may be omitting some differences between the two, but if they aren't, $100 is definately not worth it in my opinion.

the $330 retail is for the blue display (exactly the same as the regular detector, only the LEDs and 7-seg display is blue instead of the usual red). ...looks nice, but not as readable all the time and i don't think it's worth $30, unless you got a blue theme going on.

i haven't checked out the 55 at all, one thing that i'm pretty sure it doesn't include is POP detection. normally a cop has the radar on all the time and you can detect it from far away. to combat detection, they use POP. instead of the "always on" radar, it shoots the radar out in very short bursts, 67milliseconds i think, which makes it harder to detect. not even the V1 does POP detection yet.

V1 is supposedly coming out with new hardware that can do POP detection, whether it's out yet or not, beats me. Either way I have other issues with that radar detector that we don't need to discuss here.

no need to apoligize man, letting everyone know what's up is part of the board. i didn't even know there was a RX55 until it was posted in this thread, like i said in my last post, i didn't look it up yet. i'll prob get some info on it tomorrow while i'm at work.

now you got me interested, what's up with the V1? personal stuff or that fact that Mr. Valentine is an a-hole from what i hear?

haha, nothing personal about the V1... I just didn't want to bring up anything about it to help avoid just what you said in your original post "please don't flood this post with posts like "V1 is the best"....

I do have a lot to say about it in terms of it's ability to detect radar, but I don't think I'd get much accomplished other than take away from this thread.

THAT IS B.S.!!! There are EASY designs to get around this and have the component constantly warm while not actually sending a radar signal out. And even it can't, 67 ms for a circuit to stabalize?? Holy crap, that's forever!

So yeah, I disagree with a lot they have to say.

And one last thing, have you ever seen any review saying the V1 is the best, OTHER THAN CAR AND DRIVER?

If so, please tell me.

Sorry for going off topic.... if you find any more info regarding the RX55 and a group buy, please tell me. Or if you find more info regarding the differences between the 55 and 65, makign the 65 seem more worth the money.. that'd be good to know.
