Eclipse or JL 4 chnl amp?
My question is, i have a JL 300/4 and an eclipse 32440 4 chnl amp (85W x 4 Channel @ 4 Ohm Stereo RMS, or 120W x 4 Channel @ 2 Ohm Stereo) RMS. I am ready to add one to my interior speakers, but i dont know which one. I know the Jl is a very good amp, but who has used eclipse amps, id like to hear feedback from them. Basically, which amp would u guys go with? Also, does the Jl 300/4 have a hgih level input option? thx

You can use the JL without a LOC. I have one in my sedan, and it has plenty of power for my 2 sets of MB Quart components, (which are probably about the least efficient component sets you could choose). I use a second JL amp for my sub. I can't see how the additional power of the Eclipse could be much of an added benefit, and depending on what you're doing for a sub amp, the extra wattage could add to the problem of over-taxing your electrical system. While there's almost no such thing as too much amplifier power, there's only so much load your car can support without beefing up the whole electrical system.

Go with the JL 300/4. The JL has a built in Hi to Low, here is the part you need.

IMO, forget the 6x9's even the 6-1/2s in the rear quarters are just for fill. Use the savings for better components up front.

I disagree that the stock rears are "good enough" for rear fill. The only type of fill they are good for is land fill. While I understand that there are two schools of thought about whether one should use rear fill at all, I, for one, like it. I did my front doors before doing my rear doors, and the second set of MB Quart components (with center mounted tweeters) in my rear doors made a noticible improvement. The stock speakers are such poor quality, you really want to ditch them all if you can afford to. As far as getting rid of the 6X9's, I think if you're using a real sub, the 6X9's will also become useless.

I did not mean to say leave the stock rear speakers in. Just remove an not replace the 6x9s. As a rule of thumb I always tell people if you have $400 to spend on speakers, spend $300 on the front and $100 on the rears. I asumed he was replacing the rears because he was installing a 4 channel aftermarket amp. The bose speakers have different resistance than most 4ohm speakers so its not a good idea to put them on an aftermarket amp.
