Explain to her quality>quantity

They're aren't any prefab boxes i'd actually recommend. Custom would be the way to go.

I went with Polk as well but in a slightly different direction. For the fronts, I got Polk MM6501, for the rears Polk MM651 and I got the same amp as you linked in your first post. I also have a JL 12w3v3 with a 500.1 Class B amp and a Pioneer DD headunit and I am VERY satisfied. Sound is much louder than you'll ever need and my amp isn't even turned up all the way. Sound quality is day and night over OEM. I suggest you look into this setup, it ended up well for me, good luck.

Polks just don't have any excursion capability... Not that they sound bad or anything...

I'd recommend a Fi X10: https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraud...iew.shopscript - Will go louder than the Polk, can go in a TINY box, and will sound as good or better than the Polk.

Another good budget sub: SSA DCON http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/s...7B47%7DS4.html

People have also been liking DC Audio on certain car audio forums lately. I haven't tried them and don't know what store to buy them from but the Leveltwo would probably also do you well.

As would a Dayton Reference subwoofer from www.parts-express.com

. . . and so on. All stuff I'd take over Polk, and all stuff that can do a small box.

There are almost no situations where you should buy a subwoofer from a "traditional"/mainstream brand like Polk, MTX, Kicker, etc. You'll get better output, quality and value from companies like the ones I listed. Always.

The x and the dcon will shine in ported only. They're kinda lack luster in sealed boxes. The polk also has more xmax than both of them combined.

They can still be small in ported boxes though not quite as small. Still under a cubic foot. Doesn't Polk rate Xmax in peak to peak? I have a seriously hard time believing it has 25mm peak. It's gotta be either peak to peak or it's really more like Xmech, not the .707 BL point...

Edit: NEvermind, the Google search result I got the peak to peak thing was talking about a different brand.

If the Polk truly has 25mm then I am seriously surprised. That said, you'll run out of power handling before then, anyway, if its rating is accurate. I could see that power handling being okay for a 90+dB/1W/1m subwoofer, but 270w w/ 86dB? You won't be able to use half of that Xmax! I don't trust them to be underrated like I know Fi, at least, is. (I use a Q12.)

But... perhaps the Polk isn't as bad as I figured. These specs seem better than I've remembered from them in the past.

It should be enough. He just needs a small bump in the lower octave. Another that can be used is the xt10

Ok...so I have changed it up quite a bit....from the suggestions I have got....I really dont want to do a sub cause I do need the space in the trunk (tell me again if u highly disagree)...so I was thinking this..

fronts

http://www.woofersetc.com/p-6952-rsd...er-system.aspx

amp...

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_....125.html#tabs

6x9's

http://www.woofersetc.com/p-8451-cl-...ubwoofers.aspx

once again if u truly think the 6x9's are a big mistake please let me know and I will look over getting a 10" sub again.....but for the fronts and the amp...are those a good idea..

thanks

Front and amp is good. Don't get rear speakers. Put that toward a better pair of fronts or sound deadening. Sub is needed 99% of the time. You want to play the lowest octaves, you need a sub. There's no way around it. You don't have to get one now, it can wait. Save up and look around for a used 4080 box and then pick up the exile sub. The amp gives you an extra 2 channels to power it.
