Big install Saturday- COMPLETE
Big install Saturday- COMPLETE
Hey guys, I was on last week asking for hints and other tech. stuff about installing all the components of a new system, except the Bose HU (for right now). Well, I completed the install last saturday, but when I was driving home from my parents house to my own, I had a blowout. If you are from Dallas, you will know this place- A blowout in the heart of Oak Cliff at midnight. I come rolling in, with a tire that split down the center into two peices, and don't know ebough spanish to ask for help. To say the least, I was a little scared, especially since I have Volk Wheels and just installed a $2,000 stereo system. Well, I had the car towed back to my parents place as it was closer than to go to my house, and I had to special order the tire. This took the whole week, so I drive home inan old truck we have. Yesterday I had the new tire installed, and finally got to listen to my new system.
It sounds great, I have never had such high quality speakers with such good midbass, along with low bass from my 10's. The install took about 10 hours, including eating breaks, and making new mounts for all of the new 6.5" speakers. Overall the install was alot easier than I expected, and I guess that I could do it again in less the 6 hours or so. I also took apart the dash a pulled out the stock radio w/nav, but then realized that I didn't need to, so that took extra time. I just wanted to thank everyone that gave me help. And If anyone has any questions at all, feel fre to ask here or PM me.

"I also took apart the dash a pulled out the stock radio w/nav,"
did you unplug the four plugs + antenna plug? I unplugged them all when i removed the stock h/u from vehicle to modify cubby hole for the eq. now the cd player displays a "eject disc" message and won't play cds.....i can hear movement for about 3 seconds, then that message would display.....weird thing is that radio and tape plays ok.........by removing the plugs, did it trigger something that caused the cd player to malfunction?! any help would be apprecieated...........oh yeah, good to know you, your car and stereo made it out ok!
