Re: Downloading music from, from where?
I don't do much music downloading [I tend to buy used CD's instead], but when I do, I use Apple's iTunes and the Apple music store. It has worked well for me so far, and seems to be easy to use.

The iTunes music store is great, although 128kbps seems a little weak. At least they're easy to un-DRM with the hymn project.

BitTorrent. Easiest way to get full albums very fast.

Well, if you are looking for a free alternative....Limewire is the way to go.

You would want to sell me your PCR for $49 would you?
For thoes that don't already know, the demand for that piece is very high. I've seen them go for over 6X what they originally sold for.

I like the MusicMatch Jukebox to manage and purchase music online.

Re: Downloading music from, from where?
Bittorrent is the EASIEST way to get FULL albums...

But it's also the EASIEST way for RIAA or MPAA to bust you cause there's no way to hide your IP!! With a lot of these music sharing programs, people don't know the full pros/cons of downloading "free" music and just jump in and reap the benefits.

If you're using one of the major cable carriers (***, Cablevision, Time Warners, etc), they're the biggest targets cause they have the most to lose... and will just relay the lawsuits to you along with your IP/account info.

mIRC is probably still the best way, but just be warned that if you're using programs like Bittorrent/Limewire, any "user" can see you ip... heck, I can see other's IP's on my own computer.

Now, ...just imagine if RIAA's on the other end... Just my $0.02.

I'd sell mine for 6 x $50 especially since theres actually a bunch of alternatives out there now i.e. http://www.timetraxtech.com/default.asp although none are as clean or as cheap as the PCR thanks to friendly people at the RIAA

Re: Downloading music from, from where?
I use Kazaa Lite++... I've never EVER had a song I couldn't find within 5 minutes of searching. Hell, I even found something from Desert Rose Band within seconds.

Kazaa sucks. Kaza Lite++ downloads NO spyware. You can also ghost your save directory, so no person can check what files you're transferring. No legality issue.

Unless you post what you're doing on the internet.
