I like the AC controller in the 05 models but you need the 05 dash kit for it to fit. Do you guys know if you can use the 05 Double Din Kit in a 04. (that is if they even make a 05 double din kit)

 

www.nissan.co.jp shows that there is a JDM 05 double din. Fitting it into a 04 is something no one has tried yet. You can order the 05 from J's Garage (assuming you know the part numbers) and try it out :P

 

I have been in contact with J's already. They don't have the part numbers or the prices yet. He will get them to me once he finds them...don't worry, I have him hunting them down as we speak....

Whether or not they will retrofit 03-04 models, I'm buying them anyway to see if it will fit to begin with. Stay tuned....you know then I'll have to update my DIY guide....

It looks like it may fit, but might require minor modification. However, if we can get real aluminum and rotary controls, I'd do it and sell my old double din :P

 

dont forget that you'll have to ALSO buy a new A/C controller, new shifter console/boot, new shifter, and a new middle console. The cost should be around $800 to $1000 I am estimating.

<h3>MY ESTIMATE</h3>
-A/C Controller $200
-Aluminum Double Din $100
-Aluminum shifter console $75 (the part where the shifter is)
-New Center Cubby $30
-New Ash Tray $30
-New mid console/arm rest $300
-*MAYBE* a new gear shifter with leather boot but most likely not. Not sure about the cost of this. Probably not more than $100
-Express Shipping from Japan for all of this stuff $100

These prices are all estimates of course, but they should be close to the real-deal

oh and then you'd have to get a whole entirely new dashboard, then a new steering column, and then new airbags because they might not fit properly

Overall price: about $3000 plus labor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


just an estimate but good luck to those who decide to go this route, my advice is to sell your car now and buy an 05 if you really really really want the slightly revised interior

In my opinion, the new interior looks cheaper than the older one. I dont like the new buttons. The only good thing about them is that the Temp and Volume are rotary. The Gauges look too small and cheap looking.

Did anyone notice that the new location for the clock is digital and not analog like other pics out there?

yea in Japan our car has digital clock. in the USA/Canada its Analog (trademark of Infiniti)

Is there any way to buy a digital clock for the 03-04? I hate that f'n analog clock so much...

You may be able to import the entire AC display piece from Japan and install it. I would think the wiring should be the same. For an 03/04 you'd still have the analog clock but also get the digital clock (in theory since I haven't seen it it's the same shape or the connectors).

 

actually the 03/04 top dash looks different, it doesnt have that round clock part, it was similar to how the 05 is now. The clock on the 03/04 japan version was where the compass is i think.
