Question ipod nano 5th generation "Doesn't Play"

Hello Forum...
Weird thing happened, I have the Pioneer 4300 installed in my G35 coupe, my dudes and dudets its nice, no complaints... but the strangest thing happened, I have the ipod nano 5th generation playing with no problems in the beginning, then one day it just stopped playing... the screen, functionality of the ipod on the pioneer screen works i can scroll through the songs, but when i press play it doesn't play... i press the play button on my pioneer it goes to pause... I thought maybe it was the cord... but its not, my wife has the ipod touch the newest version, and that works fine, it starts up load and play music. I switch the adapter cord of mf my ipod to mine and the functionality of my ipod doesn't respond. i don't want to take my wife ipod but whatever...lol any help would be grateful...

Is there a "hard" reboot for that iPod? My wife's 5th gen classic sometimes locks up and won't respond to the Pioneer headunit. Rebooting it fixes the problem every time.

hard reboot is the center and menu buttons at the same time until the apple appears.
