Pioneer AVH-P4300DVD volume

with the awesome resources of the site, i installed this unit over the weekend and so far, i absolutely love it. it definitely makes my speakers sound better. i was wondering, is there a way to adjust the tuning mechanism of the volume control in this unit? I find that by the time i get to volume = 5, it's very loud already. Is this common with pioneer units? Not that i need fine-tuning up through volume = 20 or something, but it'd be nice to have a broader spectrum of volume.

hopefully this question makes sense....any thoughts?

also, i tried to post the picture after the install in the gallery yesterday...waiting for mod approval.

thanks!

Is it only one source with the high volume?

Are you using speaker-level outputs from the headunit to go into an amp set to line-level input?

i think it's from all sources...but i'll check later. it's really not a big deal...there is gradual volume increase but i think the increments are a little greater than i'd prefer. i was just hoping there was a way to tweak it.

i'm not using an amp...everything connects through the wiring harness the way the stock unit was connected.

Try lowering the source level adjuster in the setup screen. I think the default is at 0 and you could go down to -4. I am not sure if it will affect SQ but when I was playing around with my brother's P4300, that adjustment seems to lower the volume. I hope this helps.

I have the same setup, I used the pac harness and have no problems at all playing through the stock Bose amp and speakers.

hey guys, i think the problem had to do more with the files that I was playing on the unit. was downloading and converting youtube music videos to divx...some of the files weren't as high of quality so were more sensitive to volume changes. when using higher quality files (from artists' vevo channels), it helped. also, when playing dvd's, volume was ok as well.

thanks for the help!
