Anyone DD their stock HU?

Pretty much what the title says. Instead of buying a DD kit, has anyone just ripped out the backing of the stereo and drimmled an opening for their 7inch? Instead of having to waste 100-200 bucks on the new face plate?

You still need to buy a new climate control thing.

Yep, it's either $100-150 for a complete metra kit, or $150 for the JDM controls to put in the stock face that'll require a bunch of careful dremeling to make look half-decent.

Either way, you're out over $100 and have a sub-par looking trim.

Yeah, but if they're the only buttons on the dash, there's nothing to compare them to.

Damn, that sucks. How about this... anyway that you can switch the stock buttons for the metra buttons?

I hate the dollar amount of the JDM, I hate the looks of the Metra buttons.

Willing to buy Metra kit if button swap is possible.
Forced to buy the JDM kit if not.
