Re: Remote Start
yeah...imobilizer bypass, clutch bypass (if 6mt), and if I can remember correctly, this car needs a second starter (not second ignition) PM Kpierson (sp?) he'll be able to tell you all of the wires you need. I could get a tech sheet but it'll take a while....gotta go to my friends shop to get it and I dont know when Ill have time to go.
You have all the wires then -
1 accesory
1 ignition
2 starters (2 relays)
Thats it.
What is the car doing? Or not doing? Is it cranking? If it never cranks it could be two things.
1. Starter wires are wrong
2. Clutch bypass is wrong (6mt only)
If the car won't crank one thing you can do is DISCONNECT THE TRANSPONDER RING, start the car with the key, remote start the vehicle (with it running) and then take the key out of the ignition. If everything else is hooked up right the car will continue to run.
You can also try starting it with the clutch depressed. This will eliminate the clutch switch as a possible problem.
If the car cranks but doesn't start it could be your tach signal, your ignition wire, or maybe your accessory wire.
WITH THE TRANSPONDER RING DISCONNECTED put the key in the ignition and turn it to the 'ON' position. Try remote starting it now. If it starts its either a problem with:
1 Ignition
2 Accessory
3 Transponder
The transonder can be further tested by KEEPING THE RING DISCONNECTED and placing the key in the ignition but not turning it at all. This way, the factory ring will pick up a correct code.
If the car starts, runs for 3 seconds or so then shuts down its most likely a transponder issue.
If it is a tach problem there really isn't a way to test for that. Typically there is a 'learn' routine that will tell you if you have the right tach signal.
Give me some more details and we'll get it working.

I got the car to remote start. The problem I'm having now is that if you just start the car with the key, the remote starter doesn't work until you reset it. Do I need a diode on the second starter wire?
