Upgrading 05 Bose Coupe Speakers

Hey guys,

Driving around and listening to music in my coupe... really isn't as enjoyable as I'd hoped it'd be. I had an upgraded system in one of my old cars and was hoping I could upgrade the system in my coupe...

However, it seems upgrading in the coupe with bose is harder than other cars. Since the coupe has 8 speakers, how am I going to power them all?

I plan on putting in the Kenwood DNX-9960 head unit... but what should I do with the rest of the system. I'll probably leave the tweeters, and get speakers with tweeters.

I would be looking at the Infiniti Kappas paired with the JL300/4. Should I just upgrade the front door speakers and rear speakers... leaving the rear coaxials unplugged? Where do you guys think I could mount the amp keeping a stock appearance?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Rip all of the stock stuff out

Get a pair of beefy components + an amp to power them

You can get a bunch of ideas from this sticky here:

Otherwise for the coupe, a great component set up front and nothing but a woofer in the trunk to cover the low range is all you really need.

By component set up do you mean 2 or 4 speakers?

I don't want to lose space in the rear seat if i fold my seats down, or lose space with a box in the back... would upgrading the coaxials out back do the job for lows? I don't need much bass, but some would be appreciated.

Can you give me recommendations if it's a 4 speaker setup? In my old car I had Infiniti Kappa 63.9(s) front and rear... but was told to mix/match to get my mids/highs coming from the appropriate places.

Your 8 speakers are 2 sets of 6.5's, a set of 6x9 & tweeters.

Upgrade the front door ( 6.5's and tweeters ) with a good component set ( 6.5 & tweeter with x-over ).

If you want to go farther, do the same with the ones at the seat level in the rear.

If you want to go further yet, do the 6x9's ( although I found this to be a waste, due to the fact with a good setup, you'll never hear them anyway ).

Add the sub and amps in the trunk and call it good.

I actually have a set of MTX components in the door, a set of 4" MTX components in a custom baffle to fit in the 6.5 slot in the rear ( due to the books and info being incorrect ), a set of MTX 6x9 on the rear deck and a single 12 in the trunk. All powered by MTX as well.

As I said, the 6x9's were a waste as I never hear them with the 6.5's & the 4" setup.

Ah...

Just re-read your post again...

You could always a have custom box built that fits in the side of the trunk on one side, and mount the amps on the other. That would save your main trunk space...

i personally went with kappa components in the front, a sound ordnance 100Wx4 (not the best, but it does work for my needs quite well) and now i ordered 6x9's kappa's for the back. hooking them up tomorrow. somoeone said dun bother with the rear seat ones because they will rattle too much. i figure the 6x9's will full in the middle bass.
then im doing custom fiberglass sub boxes for the trunk. 2 10" subs being wired off an amp that i am looking at buying now. prob 600watt

This way would work also...

You really can choose which rears you want. Doing both is a waste....

As for ratteling, haven't noticed this as of yet...

^^^^ agreed about not doing both. My GUESS... if you are going with subs , get the back seat because it will have more mid-high. The 6x9s ate good for w.o subs I would imagine

Just called Crutchfield to discuss, he started right off into the Infinity Kappas.

http://www.crutchfield.com/I-rXYEc00...0&emKey=666662

1086032SI Infinity Reference 6032si 6.5" 2-way Speakers Shallow
108609CS Infinity Kappa 60.9cs 6-3/4" 2-way Component System
1086929I Infinity Kappa 692.9i 6" x 9" 2-way Car Speakers

Powered by a Rockford Fosgate 600.5 (I already own that).

I don't plan on a sub, as I have a wife and kid. Pricing it out now from other sources.

Since I'm on a mobile device can't see your signature listing the speakers you own, sell or recommend.

So what is your suggestion?

Let's say $500, give or take. That's what the Infinity setup costs, speakers only atCrutchfield.

Though the Infinity set runs $290 on EBay.

What is more balanced for the dollar?
