Installation help Inf Ref 6030CS

Greetings,
I have non-bose speakers and my right speaker recently blew for the 3rd time, so I decided to get a pair of Infinity Reference 6030CS 6-1/2 to replace my front speakers. I want to install them myself but I think I need a spacer? I went to the zenclosure website to order the spacers and they ask for a mounting hole diameter size, either 5, 5-1/4, 5-1/2, 5-3/4. Is a spacer needed? If so, can someone please help me figure out the size of the mounting hole.

Thanks

What they're looking for, I'm assuming, its the mounting diameter of your new speaker, which is not necessarily same as the cone size (in your case, 6-1/2). If you've already gotten the speakers, you can measure the inner diameter of the mounting ring that came with them to get the size you need.

Alternatively, since you're a DIYer, you can make your own speaker adapters too. Get some 3/4" MDF from Home Depot/Lowes/a friend, trace the outer pattern of the stock speaker, mounting tabs and all, then trace the inner ring of your new speaker's mounting hardware, cut out both and call it a day. When they're done they'll probably look like the ones below, and you don't have to wait for shipping.

It says your cutout is 5 3/8 inches, so I would go with the 5-1/2" spacer. The cutout btw is the diameter of the magnet and bottom of cone that will fit into the hole seen above.

I got those spacers from zen as well, my speaker required 5.4" diameter so I got the 5.5" spacer.

A note in installing the speakers, the screws that came with the spacers are hard to install, since there is a nut that goes on the bolt and you have to screw one of them from behind, forcing you to take apart part of the door. What I found in a guide online somewhere, was to get a self tapping screw (M14 x 1.5-2") and screw that from the spacer straight onto the door. This way, you don't have to mess with anything in the back of the spacers.

This guide was most helpful, let me know if you have any questions or need any help.
