so my bose head unit sucks ***. before i pick out a head unit i want to know if there is a way i can not buy the jdm dash kit. i can fiberglass and weld. can i just cut the old HU out and mold a new one in or is there something im missing?

 

If you make your own trim, even from scratch, you'll still need the a/c controls. You can get the JDM a/c controls for about the price of the complete metra kit. Check this post here on modifying factory trim to hold the JDM a/c controls:
