steering wheel controls question

I'm about to embark on removing my factory head unit from my 2004 Sedan, and will replace it with my old Sony CDX-C90. I'd like to retain the steering wheel controls, but the parts I see use a 3.5mm jack to interface with the aftermarket stereo, and the C90 uses a rectangular plug for the wired remote. Any idea how I can get this to work? I contacted Sony, who pretty much said "we don't know" and said I should ask an installer.......as if they would magically know something the Sony tech did not.

The PAC SWI-RC is the solution you're looking for.

Here's the instructions on wiring it to a sony radio:

Thank you, however, the C90 unit has a rectangular input for the rotary wired remote, and does not have a 3.5mm jack like many other Sony head units. It appears I may be out of luck using the steering wheel interface

Could you provide a picture of the back?

That adapter is listed as being compatible.

The other alternative is the PAC SWI-X, which uses an infrared transmitter to send commands that the wireless remote could send.

I can try to take a picture of the back of the unit, if I can't find one online

I'm probably going to go with the SWI-X, at least for now. I have a spare C90 around, and one of the old style rotary remotes with the 3.5mm jack, so in my spare time, I will fiddle with that, and see if I can make some sort of homemade adapter to make the plug in converter work.

Swi-X is in, and works, unfortunately the place I decided to mount the IR transmitter is a little too low for my HU to pick up the signal. Back to the drawing board...........grrr. Anyone have an idea where to mount it in a 2004 Sedan?

I attached pics of the rear of the unit, and the remote plug, so you can see what I'm talking about.
