So i was wondering if any one has any bright ideas of where I should install my xbox. I was thinking yesterday, and It cant go in the trunk, because once i get my system installed, its two 10" diamond audio TDX subs, which is close to 1800 watts, if i ever turn it up, its pretty vibraty (new word?), even when its not turned up there can be alot of vibration... so i was thinking that the xbox cant take the abuse in the trunk, unless some one knows how to pad it up well. cant go under the seat because when it snows it could get wet from the snow in peoples shoes, kinda paranoid about that...
please let me know if any one has any ideas, xbox is kinda big too... has any one modified it to a new case and make it smaller?
thanks in advance

just a quick question, not to insult, but why put a video game system in this car, other than for the kids?
Is there anyway you can take the xbox apart, then use all the components in a custom build area in your car?

its a modded xbox with 200gb harddrive, mainly for mp3 playback, or can be used for video and game playback. i am able to store games, videos and music on the harddrive. i was thinking about taking it apart, but was wondering where to put that? it still has be in some kind of enclosure, probably smaller, because i do plan to take it out of the car every now and then to put more songs on it by connecting it to my computer
No matter where you put it it's going to be taking abuse from the subs. So I don't think location matters much in that respect. I would just build a box for it and mount it in the trunk. Pad the interior of the box with dynamat might help a bit. Don't put it in the cabin, such a waste of space.

i do remember that, but that was a ps2, much smaller then xbox
but i think that would be my best bet, making a new box for the xbox myself (put my engineering skills to use... some how) and then fit it there, or i can just super duper pad and put it in the trunk.
i guess not much u can do... silly me, answering my own questions

My opinion is that the Xbox is too big and bulky to really mount anywhere in the coupe. Not to mention the heat/humidity issues during the summer that could very well damage something like an Xbox which has a non shock proof DVD-ROM and inadequate shielding to put near other equipment such as amps, subs, etc.... The new slimmer and smaller PS2 might be a better choice given space constraints and i think there might be enough space for the PS2 to be mounted in the NAV cubby with some custom fabrication.

ps2 doesnt have HD features that im really looking for, plus i already have a modded xbox. if it was for movies only, id use the new ps2, but i like more storing mp3s and movies on to the xbox. with a wireless card on my xbox and ftp setup... when i park in the garage, it can be like docking in and just downloading wat ever i need from my computer. works perfect!
You don't need the dvd-rom drive (not sure if the xbox will complain if it's completely missing), but you should part it out so you only have the mainboard, harddrive, and an easy way to hookup the ethernet (unless you go wireless).

wasn't that for the Final Fantasy package????
The PS2 HDD isn't just made for FF now. There a hack out there so that people with PS2 can use it how people with xbox been using theirs. Having an HDD console system is one of the best thing in regards to the ultimate media machine.
I installed my xbox in the spare tire well. I attached a pic of the install in progress. I still need to add an amp (when I get some $) and make a trim plate with plexi windows for the xbox and amp. You obviously lose the spare tire this way but the upside is that you don't lose any trunk space.

What about going the route I did...A car computer ...does all that an xbox does and can be smaller too. I use Mame 32 for gaming on it so I get all the arcade hits. Load up the mp3's, movies and gps...whatever a pc can take.
