Can someone confirm the voltage the rear windshield antenna expects? I need to finish my CarPC/HDRadio install. Can I just wire the antenna up to an accessory line?

12v. It might draw the actual power from that line, not just use it as a trigger for a second power wire though, many aftermarket radios don't provide sufficient power for it, so it's best to hook it up to the cigarette lighter power line instead of the power antenna line.

I've wired the "ANT SIGNAL to AV-W/ANT" wire from pin 5 of the M40 wiring harness to a 12v wire at an auxiliary power port. The radio signal seems better but is still awful.

Any suggestions?

 

Yeah, see the above reply about using the cigarette lighter power.

 

Sorry, that's what I did. the M40 wire in position 5 is the one that is marked as "ANT" on the G35 wiring diagram. I wired that up to a cigarette lighter (what I called AUX) port.
