Focal speakers vs Image Dynamics

To whom already have these speakers Focal 6.5 coax and midbass or Image Dynamics 6.5 coax and midbass. I just wanted some input which one to choose from no specific models on either brand or what you will suggest, money is not really an issue just dont want components. will be powered by jl 300/4 thanks in advanced.

Both brands are supposed to be good. I don't think you'll go wrong with either one. Im running a pair of Focal components and coaxials on a JL 300/4 and sounds nice.

I was in the market for components a couple of months ago and was set on the Focal 165s, really set. Then I listened to some Hybrid Audio Clarus C61-2 and holy hell, there is no comparison. Same price range ~$500 and these speakers are the shizz. Check them out here: http://www.hybrid-audio.com/products/04-clarus.html

HAT, HERTZ, IDQ, Focal, Diamond, are all high end brands and you can't go wrong with any of them. I would recommend you burn your favorite cd and test them all out and smaller audio shops that specialize in high end equipment. For subwoofers you can look at RE, Fi, JL, IDQ/ ID MAX, Infinity Kappa Perfect DVC,

There's a really great Sundown SA-10 vs IDQ10 review on diymobileaudio:

So my final verdict is, toss a coin. Depending on your priorities (box size, tuning preferences, efficiency, cost) either sub would fit the bill of providing quality bass for a SQ setup at a modest price. The IDQ will give you a bit more output with less mechanical noise, but the Sundown has a smoother upper end response and a lower measured distortion.
