Upgrade OEM Speaker Help
I have a '04 G with the basic Clarion speaker package and have had a hard time getting specs on the speakers. The speakers have a lot of bass even at bass 0 and I'm sure the system could sound better (settings or new speakers?).
I know the receiver is 200W. If anyone has any thoughts on 6.5 speaker upgrades (brand, type, recommendations, worth it?) that would be awesome!

Humphrey, if you're really into perfect sound you can get a 4-channel amp and send the signal from your headunit to the amp, and then power 4 speakers in your car. Kappa Perfects are expensive, and require a nice amp to make sound their best. If you just want better sound, you can replace the 6.5s in the doors with something like Infinity's Reference series. I did that in my volvo, stock headunit, no extra amps, and the sound was excellent compared to stock. Question - How did you find the Wattage specs on the base Clarion headunit? Do you know the RMS values per channel?

i have the kappa perfects 6.1's in the fronts of the G coupe with an infinity 6 channel (i bridge the last two to one for a sub), and it sounds great!
If sound isn't that important, or you don't plan on keeping the car that long (I plan on keeping the car damn near forever), chances are you really don't need the perfects, just teh reference speakers, or soemthing of similar quality should be just fine.
