* Impedance: 4 Ohm

Impedance: The totality measured in Ohms of all electrical opposition to current flow: resistance, reactance, capacitance, as well as all mechanical factors inhibiting the completion of energy transfer in a contained system. In practical terms, this means that most Drivers are assigned a certain nominal impedance based on their DC voice coil resistance and mechanical stiffness. For car audio this is usually 4 ohms; for home stereo, 8 ohms is the standard.

This is what I am looking at. I am a big complete nub to this stuff. I am wondering if this is a good set up and if they go together well. I want something that has good hi's, and ok mid's (hopefully the woofer can compensate). I really like to listen to hiphop, techno, classical and rock. What I want is crisp and accurate music, with a nice punchyness to the bass. So please, someone help me. Thanks.

---edit---
Farad capacitors...
How many do I need? One for each amp? How many watts for the farad capacitor(s)?

Fuses
Do I need some sort of a fuse box just incase a power surge occurs and shorts out my system? What would I get? Voltage/wattage rating? Where would I get it?

Good choice on JL sub and amp. I would skip Infinity speakers up front and go with something like JL or Diamond audio.

You know what with all the money you're spending I would do something else. This is what I suggest.

Fronts get JL ZR series 6.5" components. Use JL 300/2 to drive them. Don't worry about rears don't really need them.
For sub stick with the JL 10W6 and use a JL 500/1 to power it.

You will spend about the same on the system I suggested compared to the system you put together, But this one should sound better. Also less complexity to put the system together. And if you really want to run rears, run them off the HU. But with the fronts and amp I suggested you should be able to get plenty of clean volume.

Caps I would get at least a 1 farad cap for your system.

Accessories. You'll need a inline fuse under hood, you'll need a fused distribution block, and a ground distribution block. You will need about 17 ft of at least 4 ga power and ground wire and about 5 feet of 8 ga power and ground wire

I can't seem to find the ZR series anywhere... is it even out yet? Where can I find it?

Also, where can I find a website that will sell me all these accessories?

But I can't find it anywhere else to buy it. I did a search for it on the web, ebay'ed it and nothing came up. Unless I have to buy it direct from them.

Its a newer product so you're going to have to go to a store to get it. And since its a highend JL product you're not going to have an easy time finding it on ebay. JL has a pretty strict internet purchasing policy I believe. Plus you'll want to listen to the speakers so go look for them at a store. If you can't find them the XR series is a good alternative too.

I have never been a fan of Infinity. Used to manage an home and car audio store and a Infinity sales person brought us a set of home speakers, they were like $1800/pair. We hooked them up to audition and the speakers sounded like crap. Way too boomy lack of midrange, lack of volume, distortion at slightly high volume and on and on. So needless to say we never picked up the line. Very poor showing.

i wish i could make a good suggestion.. im shopping for speakers myself. i understand that focals are very good, but after a couple years of the infinities, i really really want good midbass im looking into adire audio kodas now. there are a couple problems though: 1. im not sure if adire's kodas are hype and cant listen to them. 2. adire is discontinuing them.

at a lower price range, i heard that RE Audio RE components are good. they only cost $160. I'm considering them. I'm still considering Focal 165V2s as well. I want Focal 165K2P or 165Ws but both of those are expensive ($400-500 range) and im unsure if i want to spend that much on components yet.

Focal is ok, for me they are way too mechanical sounding. Adire is very good too.

What about Alpine Type R or Type S? I've been shopping too. Anyone have experience with those?

It really comes down to personal preference. For me I don't like my tweeters to be too bright. And I want good midbass, but some of that has to do with how you situate the midbass driver.
