Charging my iPhone 3GS via iPhone connector (2008 G35x)

Charging my iPhone 3GS via iPhone connector (2008 G35x)
I have a 2008 G35x which has XM, Nav and an iPod hookup. When i hook up my iPhone 3GS, it won't charge. I was told that this was an option in the G37's but not for my model when I bought the car. Anyone know how/if I can charge my phone while it is connected to the car?
