Aftermarket HU; couple questions

I am picking up my G in a couple days, and only just realized it's bit of a hassle to get your iPod music to play. After doing some research I learned that you either have to install an iSimple iPod adapter to the back of the stock HU (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_541ISNI...n.html?tp=1672), or install a new stereo. I think, for the sake of getting the best quality, and for a bit more functionality, I will go with the new stereo, however I have a couple questions.

1. Will this stereo work? How can you tell which stereos will work and which ones wont?

2. I've never applied any aftermarket anything, so I am a noob, but how do you fit for example that stereo into the stock HU? Do you just replace the current little display and fit that one in? Do you have to get a new fascia?

You'll need a double-din conversion, Metra or JDM, depending on whether you have nav or not.

Nissan/Infiniti didn't do us any favors when they designed the stock audio system and AC controls.

And for the double din conversion, do I need to do anything fancy? Or do I just take apart the stock HU, put in the doble din, plug and play the new stereo, and I'm good to go?

I'm looking at the one up from that headunit. Should get here on the 29th. But Crutchfield is normally pretty expensive, but their specials are really good. I'm getting the JVC headunit, antenna adaptar, wire harness, and (ugly) metra kit for 270 with free shipping. Now I just need the steering wheel control piece and I'm good to go. What everyone tells me its pretty much plug and play. Theres videos on here and a couple on youtube for assistance. Crossing my fingers I don't F something up.

You need everything in the shopping list of mine that others have linked to already, but you basically just need the headunit, wiring harness or adapter, steering wheel adapter, antenna adapter, and a trim kit with a/c controls.

If you're worried about it and want some help, AL isn't too far from GA, I'm right around Atlanta and if you'd like to make the roadtrip, I'd be more then happy to help ya hook it up...just did my DD conversion with NAV, steering wheel module, iPod, amp, etc...Can't see a single wire and my car sounds like a thunderstorm is trapped inside...not too shabby if I do say so myself

I just got home, opened up everything, and the headunit seems to behaving trouble fitting into the metra adapter. Crutchfield says it fits, but it looks stupid in the metra. The bottom part fits, but the brackets on the headunit on the top don't seem to fit right. So you may have to do some cutting getting that one I linked you to. I haven't tried installing yet until tomorrow, hopefully It'll magically fit when i do it in the care lol.
