Issue accessing music from smartphone via USB
Issue accessing music from smartphone via USB
I have a 2011 G37 w/nav. When I plug my VZW Motorola Droid Bionic into the car's USB port, the car does not read/index music files that are on the phone's SD card, instead only "seeing" files stored on the phone's internal storage. Because the internal storage capacity of the phone is well less than the amount of space I need to store my music library, moving the files into the phone's internal storage isn't a viable option (although I dropped some files into the internal storage to test and they were picked up just fine).
I had the same SD card in another phone and the music was accessible through the car's USB port, although I had intermittent problems receiving a "Check USB cable or iPod" error message (to make sure this wasn't an issue related to moving the card from one phone to the other, I reformatted and retransferred the music files onto the freshly formatted card).
Does anyone know of any workaround, either with the car or the phone, that I might be able to try to allow the car to "see" the SD card in the phone? If push comes to shove, I can buy a jump drive and dump the music onto it, but I would rather avoid so that I don't have to update multiple devices whenever I rip a new CD or download something.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
