Pioneer AVH-p43000dvd Install Before, During, **After PICS**

Alright guys---So this is pretty much my first real thread on driver. I'm posting this because I couldnt find much info before my install. So hopefully this will help everyone looking to install this unit. Its the new unit for the 2011 season and is highly optimized for Iphone users. I run a iPhone 4 with 5.0 software and it integrates flawlessly. Although I did not opt for the Pioneer U220 Nav add on which costs $200+, I still have voice navigation through MotionX on my phone, works great!

I can put the HU in Pandora mode through my phone or in iPod mode and play phone music. Additionally, I've wired in a bypass for video off ebay to play DVDs while I drive(dont tell the cops!). Wiothout the bypass you can only put it in app mode or dvd while the parking brake is on! LAME! This way I can pop the unit in app mode and watch COPS through my iphone on my HU(isnt that ironic! LOL) and other shows that I've downloaded through iTunes store. I can also watch YouTube videos on the HU, Netflix, ETC ETC!!!!

I love this HU with an iPhone........If you don't have an iPhone I WOULD NOT advise to run this unit!

COST REPORT:

HU: $365 shipped off ebay (included pioneer ipod cable, $60 value)
JDM DD and AC controls $295 shipped
Metra Wiring Harness $13 bought locally
Metra Antenna Adapter $12 bought locally
Bypass Adapter $12
______________________________________
TOTAL COST: $697

Shift **** was an additional $115

Total after ****-----$812

Stock before. Trim yellowing, CD player completely failing to meet my needs. Stock shifter looking like a freakin' golfclub!

JDM kit arrived, taped up with painter's tape and test fitting. Unit is vertically smaller than opening on JDM DD. Slight bummer BUT unit flips out to access DVD/CD slot and SD slot so this gives me extra space to fab a trim piece. Notice the gap below unit with the trim piece wedged into space.

Everything removed!

With new shift ****!

Bit blurry but you get the idea! I adjusted the orange on the HU to match the OEM orange. Matches great! can't tell though.

BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH! This is the details on the video feedback before letting you watch and video. If you're in gear and not bypassed---no video!

Looks great!!!

I will keep my OEM shifter and just deal with moving down the shifter into drive when I need to access the back of my 7" screen.

Have fun! I am with my JVC!

that hole behind the screen is NOT an aux jack... its a mic auto-tuning jack.

Thanks!

I swear, I know that $115 sounds expensive for just a shift **** but it was worth it to me. It really freshens up the interior and makes it have a sportier feel with the AT.

The main reason I bought it as to no obstruct my flip out while in park ie loading discs in slot or messing with SD card. But I recommend it!!

I'm glad you mention that because I was nervous about working on this car---as it is the most expensive thing I've ever owned lol.

I had previously put a headunit in my 1996 Nissan Maxima so I was not exactly new to install but still didn't know what to fully expect...

#1 RESEARCH--The more research I did, the more comfortable I became with the install even before I had ordered any parts. I familiarized myself with other member's installs and pictures as references. Printed similiar installs and put together a general guide to help myself. I was pleasently surprised once I started. It's quite simple. You will buy the Metra wiring harness for nissans, match all the colors to the HU wiring harness, then plug the harness straight into the factory connections. Viola! It really is just connect the colors---plug and play. Don't be intimidated.

**The bummer part is that you will have to buy a JDM DD which I bought for $295 shipped, or buy a Metra dash kit which costs roughly $180.**

You are correct sir. Could you please explain how to use this? Is it for hooking up a mic and external speaker set-up? I've never seen one of these before.

On this headunit, the AUX jack is in the rear of the unit.

the AUX jack should be attached to the same cable that the ipod/phone plugs into.

you would need to get the auto-EQ mic... http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...onents/CD-MC20

it determines the best EQ settings for your car's acoustics and sets it up automatically. worth it? eh...

If you like the way is sounds I wouldn't bother with it
