What exactly does the PAC SWI-x do?
I am putting in the PAC AAI-NIS to give me aux inputs for my IPOD and my DVD player. I was wondering why I would need to put in the SWI-x. Also, if I put the AAI-NIS in a location that I can get to the wire for the SWI-x without removing the Factory stereo again, is there any other reason I would need to remove the factory stereo to add the SWI-x at a later time?
Just wondering. GF

The SWI-X is a unit you crimp/solder/connect up to your existing steering wheel control wire harness. You then run the SWI-X's infrared (IR) transmitter and mount it somewhere in the car where it points to your HU's remote control sensor and then it functions as a "learning" remote control.
IMO, too much work and cost for little gained function. Your right hand is so close to your HU's controls that you manipulate your volume and stuff easily w/o the SWI-X. Plus, your HU should come with a remote control anyway.
