hey guys, just wondering if there is a way to get an aux cable to connect to the stock unit? or do you need to buy a new unit

But just to make your life easier, yes it is possible but it will cost you a couple hundred bucks. Search for something like PA-nis15. Not sure exactly what it's called but it will give you a plug n play setup for your iPod

 

Yes it's possible, but putting any money towards the stock headunits with their alarmingly high failure rates is a bad investment. Start saving for an aftermarket headunit and you won't regret it.
