lookin for piks of custom subwoofer enclosures

I just finished my Fiberglass enclosure this past weekend... I really wanted the space savings of 4080's, but I have always prefered ported enclosures... After building 3 different enclosures out of MDF and not being satisfied with the trunk space, I took on the fiberglass. It's sure nice to have my trunk back...

Here are pics of mine that I did around the end of the summer. Took me like 3 weeks. Wanted to make a ported box and didn't see any others around so went ahead and gave it a try. Came out good and sounds awesome.

Stealth Box

Here's some pictures of the stealth box I built to go next to the spare tire. It's fiberglass on all sides except the top which is MDF. The back is covered with dynamat to cut down on resonances. The sub is the Infinity Kappa Perfect 10.1. Having the whole system (Focal 165 V2 front and rear and Infinity 5760a amp) installed this weekend.

Gizmo,

That's pretty trick! Do you run without a trunk mat or did you cut it out? Do you have pics?

Risingsun124,

How do you like your RF Power Sub? Is it a T1 or T2?

RisingSun124,
I'm planning on leaving the trunk mat in place and building a spacer from a sandwich of foam and hardboard to even out the floor. I suppose I could just cut an opening in the mat but I'm trying for the stealth effect.
Haven't built the spacer yet so can't send picts, sorry.

i'm just not sure i like the direction the sub faces when you mount it in the corner. i'm used to having either rear or forward facing subs. sub pointed to left/right would just be weird. anyone try both to see the sound differences? i've got a 12" solobaric and xtant amps... it'll have to be a custom job as no one I know of makes fitted square sub boxes.

It doesn't matter which way the sub points in your trunk. Bass in non-directional and propagates regardless of how it's facing. I've heard other people with subs facing the rear, and it sounds the same IMO.

The advantage of having a corner enclosure is so you still have most of your trunk still, and that pass-thru as well. My sub enclosure easily slides out whenever I need ALL of my (tiny & minute) trunk...

That 12" you got won't fit in the corner unless you angle it slightly. Good luck with your install...

that 12" of mine is a bitch. same surface area as a 15 tho. as far as i know, the direction of the woofer does make some difference. foward facing, it would sound tighter, less distorted. rear facing, lower freq stand out more but more prone to distortion. something like that. haven't heard much side facing. i guess i'll have to see what can be done. haven't given it too much thought since the weather's been ****ty ever since i got the car.

thanks.... i'll need more than just luck on this one if i want to stick w/ these parts.
