Factory NAV to aftermarket head unit

I'm going to attempt to fix my crapped out ac/stereo/gauge lights/nav screen (in my 2004 g35x) by replacing with a double din head unit. Does anyone know why the gauge lights and nav screen lose power due to the stereo failure? Are they hooked to the stock stereo for power? Will I need to find a head unit with the proper hookup for the nav and gauge light power?? Please help...very confused.

For future reference of people with similar problems, the issue here was a blown fuse.
