Aftermarket HU w/out losing steering wheel control?

Hi guys, I was looking on Crutchfield, and PAC came out w/ an adapter to use the steering wheel control for aftermarket HU. However, it's not compatible w/ our cars. I was wondering if anyone know if this is possible with our car. Maybe with a different company? This is the ONLY reason I don't want to get the aftermarket HU.

Type in "swi-x" in the search funtion and you'll find all the answers you need. I also have it and it works fine for me. There is a slight lag compared to stock, but I still love having my stering wheel controls.

does an aftermarket hu that will work with the controls without the swi-x or similar exist?

maybe something similar but sitting between the wheel and the hu instead of ir?

interestingly, the 2005 Alpine HU's will have a port for certain 3rd party devices to keep interface with the stock steering controls, however I believe it's only for GM and domestics We're stuck with the SWI-X or nothing.

You would think that they would do it for import only if they were going to be picky. I bet if we took a pole, there would be more modified imported cars than domestic. Oh yeah, GM and domestics aren't two different catagories .
