Bose Upgrade
Bose Upgrade
So guys im new to the G world and im looking to upgrade from the bose system. Ive upgraded the radio to the avic-z1 using the 70-7550 and jdm dash kit. It sounds decent but the sub sounds like poo sandwich to say the least. So the plan is to only replace the factory speakers and add amp without using a sub box combo. any suggestions ? this is what i've come up with so far.
Front speakers
JL Audio TR650-CSi
Rear Speakers
JL Audio C5-650cw driver
Sub
Kicker 10C84
Amp
Kicker 11DX600.5

I would do all JL Audio and maybe do one JL audio 12 W7 if you want alot of bass. I currently have 2 12W3s and JL audio 6x9s and love them. I plan on doing the one 12 W7 in the near future. JL Audio makes awesome door speakers and Subs.

Gotcha I wouldnt replace the 5.25 in the back. I just did the 6.5 components with tweeters and Jl Audio 3 way 6x9 in back and it sounds perfect. No need to do the other speakers just leave unplugged.

Only replace the fronts with some really nice components. JL are definitely not the best price/performance.
Use the money you would have spent on rears to increase the quality of the fronts. I'd say phoenix golds if you're staying budget.

I went a month with *only* my Boston Acoustic Pro60se's (6.5 front components) an a 300w JL amp. While the deep bass that only a good sub can give you was gone, it was still fantastic to listen to, since well-powered, quality components can give some really, really good range.
If you want to keep space down and still get the deeper bass, JL's 8" sub can fit in a small box (not on the flimsy rear deck like the bose "sub") and still sound great, particularly if you use proper sound deadening (sounddeadenershowdown.com) to reduce ambient noise levels.
